Speaker: Anne M. Rogers, Senior Consultant Partner and COO/CSO of ERASCOGroup, LLC

Title: "Today’s Technology Risks & Rewards – Threats and “War Stories”

Description:   This presentation contains a summary view of our current interconnected and integrated technologies, and their increasing trends and benefits. It will touch on the burgeoning growth of AI capabilities and machine to machine (M2M) communications and some implications this has for risk management and strengthening our “weakest links”. We will wrap up with some hints and tips for spotting common fraud attacks and dive into a couple of true “War Stories’ about local incidents.

Bio Ms. Rogers provides clients with technical and management consulting in Information Systems and Network management, Information security, solutions and compliance planning and design, performance and capacity management, as well as computer forensics and eDiscovery.

From 2012 through 2021 she served as CIO for El Centro de Corazon, a non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with four locations in Houston, TX.

From 2002 through early 2012, she was the Director, Information Safeguards for Waste Management, responsible for company-wide information security and privacy protection strategy and compliance programs, information protection policies, procedures, and guidelines, and the company’s formal security awareness program. At Waste Management she established and managed an ASCLD certified Digital Forensics Lab and computer forensics program providing internal investigation and eDiscovery support.  Prior to Waste Management, Rogers held positions as Principal Consultant with PMTech-Pro, LLC., Technical Program Manager with IBM, Technical Staff consultant for MITRE Corp, Director of Information Systems for Warren King Companies, and Deputy Director of Data Automation, USAF Alaskan Air Command.

Ms. Rogers is a long-time member of ISSA and an ISSA Fellow. She has served multiple terms as President of the ISSA South Texas chapter, was a founding member of the ISSA CISO Executive Forum, and served for ten years on the CISO Advisory Committee. She served on the ISSA International Board from 2004-2006, and from 2013-2019 as a Director and then as COO on the ISSA International Board.
Ms. Rogers was a founding member and board member of the Corporate eDiscovery Forum. She is also a long-time member of InfraGard and former board member of the Houston InfraGard Chapter.

Rogers holds a B.S. in Physics from U.T. El Paso and an MBA from the University of Utah, Salt Lake.  She currently holds CISSP, IAM and IEM Security certifications, the Project Management Institute’s PMP certification, and formerly held CCE and EnCE forensics certifications.

Event Policies

In order to receive CPE credit for this presentation, the attendee must attend for 50 minutes and answer three poll questions randomly presented during the event.

Program Cancellation Policy

If you have registered and/or paid for an event and you need to cancel, you MUST cancel online through your account no later than 5 days prior to the event, unless otherwise indicated in specific event policies, to request a refund and/or cancel your registration. The Chapter must confirm event registrations with the venue prior to the event and any changes after this time period can become a financial cost to the Chapter. The Chapter reserves the right to make the final determination on what percentage charge/refund will be returned for cancellations made after the cutoff. The default condition is that cancellations made after cutoff will be charged at 100% and/or no refunds will be allowed. In the event the Chapter determines that partial charges or refunds will be allowed, they will be made on a case by case basis.

In the event of having to cancel one of the events,  the Chapter would immediately send an email blast to all registrants with the emails they used for registration.  The Chapter media relations officer would post on all social media platforms notifying members of the cancellation, and the Chapter webmaster would also post cancellation on the Chapter website.

In the event an attendee does not show up to the event, the registration cost will be forfeited. If payment at the door was the selected method, then the attendee will be billed for the full cost of the event. The Chapter reserves the right to bar future registrations for any attendees who routinely register and fail to pay and/or attend the event.  If you have any questions you may email events@houstonacfe.org."
