Presentation: Transforming Data Analytics into Useful Field Investigation

Speaker: Raun Bass, National Insurance Crime Bureau, Senior Data Analyst, Texas Medical Fraud Task Force

Raun A. Bass serves as the Sr. Field Information Analyst for the NICB (www.nicb.org) Houston Medical Fraud Task Force. Mr. Bass began his career with NICB in 2006 as the Field Information Analyst for the NICB Gulf Coast Task Force. The Gulf Coast Task Force was established in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in late 2005. Mr. Bass assumed the duties of Medical Fraud Task Force Analyst in July 2007, after serving as a NICB Analyst assigned to the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud and Auto Theft Unit in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mr. Bass recently helped create and implement a new analytical product for NICB member companies named QCNetSM.

In 2017, Mr. Bass severed as a NICB asset embedded within the Texas State Emergency Operation Center (EOC) in Austin, Texas during Hurricane Harvey to help support the NICB digital intelligence initiative and launch of the Geospatial Intelligence Center (GIC) (www.geointel.org). Mr. Bass issued daily catastrophe alerts from information collected at the EOC, which quickly informed NICB member companies of significant activities while, encouraging claims reporting and providing members with NICB points of contact. Additionally, Mr. Bass now serves as a NICB representative on the Texas State Hazard Mitigation Team (SHMT) in an effort to help support their mission toward protecting Texas citizens and their property losses from future natural hazards like Hurricane Harvey. Mr. Bass attended Loyola University of New Orleans where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing.
